Wonderful supports higher education with $1.5M to Cal State Bakersfield

Bakersfield is home to many of our employees and it’s also home to Cal State University, Bakersfield (CSUB), a place that plays a vital role in educating and shaping the region’s future leaders. That’s why The Wonderful Company recently announced a $1.5 million gift to enhance student spaces on campus, creating more welcoming, accessible areas where students can learn, connect, and thrive.

The gift will support renovations at the Rohan Building that houses the Wonderful Scholar Center on the second floor. Funds will be used for the addition of a new exterior elevator and remodeled restrooms to bring the building into ADA compliance, expanding much-needed space for student services. The project also includes upgrades to the second-floor Wonderful Scholar Center with new furnishings, flooring, and paint to better support academic success and community.

College should be a place where students feel supported, connected, and able to achieve a future bigger than anything they imagined. This investment reflects Wonderful’s long-standing commitment to the Central Valley and to helping cultivate future leaders. This work includes creating environments where students can thrive – academically, personally and in community.

This latest gift is part of an ongoing commitment to the region where many employees live and work. To date, Lynda and Stewart Resnick, along with their foundations, and The Wonderful Company have invested more than $850 million in the Central Valley, across health and wellness, education, infrastructure, affordable housing, and more.

With 175 Wonderful Scholars in attendance at CSUB, this gift will ensure current and future generations of Wonderful Scholars can benefit from the community and connection the new space will foster. In recognition of this ongoing partnership, the CSUB student lounge in the Student Union has been named the Wonderful Student Lounge – a visible reminder of our shared commitment to education and the campus community.
